Technological advances, whether on Earth with large telescopes or in space are constantly leading to the development of new observables to test our understanding of the Universe. This is how various extensions to the cosmological model have been devised. In this habilitation to direct research, I present my contribution. First of all, I present the state of our knowledge and current difficulties. Next, I develop the results obtained by the students I supervised. Finally, I conclude with my outlook.
