We will focus on AI tools that can enhance our research activity. It will take place on Friday, December 12th at 15:00 in MISTRAL (2nd floor).
On this occasion, we will welcome Dr. Yann Arnaud from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (see title and abstract below). I strongly encourage everyone to attend, as he will present several very useful and easy-to-use tools to support bibliographic searches, literature monitoring, and commenting on paper, proposal, and grant application drafts.
Yann will give a 30-minute presentation, followed by approximately 15 minutes of questions, and will remain available afterward for a hands-on session to help you use the tools.
Title : Beyond the Hype: Debates, Tools and Practices of Artificial Intelligence in Research
In every scientific domain, the research process is progressively being transformed by artificial intelligence (AI). The current hype and curiosity surrounding these technologies are as fascinating as they are thought-provoking. In this presentation, I will address the “elephant in the room”: the use of AI across the critical stages of the research pipeline. With an inquisitive spirit, I will begin by presenting an overview of the epistemic debates among scientists regarding knowledge production. Then, I will attempt to map the rapidly evolving landscape of academic tools powered by AI technologies, before concluding with a set of emerging best practices. Throughout this presentation, the purpose is not to investigate whether AI will eventually replace researchers, but rather to question whether those who do not adopt it, or fail to use it effectively, will lag behind those who do.
