SUMMARY:Interstellar Filaments and Artificial Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:Star formation in galaxies occurs within filaments composed of gas (primarily hydrogen) and tiny solid particles called interstellar dust (mainly carbon-based). Depending on their location and physical properties (density\, temperature)\, these filaments can be difficult to detect in observational data. In particular\, low-density filaments or those located in regions of very high emission are generally not detected by classical methods. \nDuring this conference\, Annie Zavagno will present these filaments as they are observed and demonstrate how\, thanks to artificial intelligence and supervised deep learning\, we are now able to study them as never before. Here\, artificial intelligence (AI) becomes “Augmented Intelligence” (AI)\, where humans and machines combine their respective efforts and expertise to explore these structures in entirely new ways—ways that only this fusion of intelligences makes possible. \nReservations recommended: +33 4 42 80 27 97
