 FIREBALL

FIREBALL is a balloon borne telescope developed to detect in emission the Inter-Galactic Medium (IGM)

In cooperation with Caltech (PI: C. Martin) and the University of Columbia, the PSEG team has developed FIREBALL dedicated to the detection of the CGM emission. The gondola for a balloon flight and observation in a spectral window at 2000 Angstroms was developed by CNES (“Departement des Nacelles Pointees”) relying heavily on the heritage of the FOCA balloon experiment at “Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille”.
