Post Doc CHEOPS
The Laboratoire d’Astrophysiques de Marseille invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in the domain of exoplanet researches. More precisely, the position is related to the preparation of the CHaracterizing ExOPlanet mission (CHEOPS). CHEOPS has been selected by ESA for study as the first Small-mission, with a foreseen launch date end of 2017. It aims at the detection and the characterization of transiting small-size extrasolar planets around bright stars already known to host planets.
The successful applicant will participate actively in the development of the CHEOPS data reduction pipeline whose LAM is responsible for the delivery. The postdoc will also be part of the international team leads by the Geneva Observatory, in charge of the CHEOPS Operation Center and will closely collaborate with the team at CAUP led by N. Santos who shares the data reduction work package with LAM.
Applicants must have a PhD in astrophysics and a documented experience in the field of exoplanetology with a good expertise in high-precision photometry and time-series analysis, as well as the necessary programming and observational skills. Applicants should send a cover letter, a CV with a list of publications, and a description of research accomplishments and relevant technical experience (3 pages) to the address below. They should arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.
The deadline for both applications and letters of reference is thursday November 29, 2013
The appointment is for two years, with possible renewal up to one year, and is expected to start on January 2014.
